Coach Justin Roeder | Indianapolis Running Coach | Former Professional Triathlete, NCAA D1 Head Coach, & Indiana State Champion
Background
Some coaches talk about elite running. I've lived it — and spent my career building it in others.
I'm a former Indiana State Cross Country Champion, NCAA Full-Ride Scholarships Athlete (Butler University, IN) and a former NCAA Division I Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field. I bring a rare combination to the coaching relationship: the perspective of a competitive athlete, the structure and discipline of a Division I program director and builder, and the genuine investment of a coach who works one-on-one with every athlete I train.
Whether you are a high school runner chasing a state qualifying time, a college prospect trying to earn a scholarship, or an adult runner working toward your first finish line — I've coached someone exactly like you, and I've coached them to succeed.
A Track Record That Speaks for Itself
My results are not theoretical. They are documented, repeatable, and built across every level of the sport.
188 NCAA-Level Athletes Trained Over the course of my collegiate coaching career, I've trained and developed 188 athletes at the NCAA level in the Division I landscape. That depth of experience means I understand what it takes to develop a runner not just for this season — but for the long arc of an athletic career.
8 College Signings in 2025 Alone In 2025 alone, eight athletes I coached signed with NCAA and NAIA programs and earned running scholarships. Division I. Division II. Division III. NAIA. My athletes are being placed at every level of collegiate competition — because I coach every athlete with the ceiling in mind, not just the floor.
65 Boston Qualifiers The Boston Marathon qualifying standard is one of the most respected benchmarks in all of distance running. I've guided 65 runners to hit that standard and earn their bib. These are not casual runners — these are athletes who committed to a process, trusted a plan, and executed when it counted.
1,300+ First-Time Finishers Before a runner chases a PR, they have to cross the line the first time. I've helped more than 1,300 first-time half-marathon and marathon runners reach that moment. I understand that the first finish line is one of the most meaningful athletic experiences a person can have — and I take that responsibility seriously.
Who I Coach
I currently offer private 1-on-1 coaching for high school distance runners in the Indianapolis area and online. My coaching is built around the individual — your event, your training history, your schedule, your goals. There are no generic plans, no cookie-cutter workouts, and no one-size-fits-all approach.
If you are a high school runner in Indiana looking to run faster, compete at the next level, or simply get the most out of your season — this is the coaching relationship you have been looking for.
In-person coaching is available in Indianapolis, Indiana. Online coaching is available nationwide.
Why Work With Me
There is no shortage of people calling themselves running coaches. What sets me apart is simple: I've done the work at every level of the sport — from earning a state championship myself, to building a Division I program, to coaching everyday runners across the finish line for the very first time.
I know what elite looks like. I know what it takes to get there. And I know how to meet an athlete exactly where they are and build something real from that starting point.
If you are serious about your running, I am serious about your development.
